Common Sense

Everybody gets so much information all day long that they lose their common sense.
--Gertrude Stein, 1946

Trying to not spend so much time on the interwebs and enjoy real life more. (Thanks Gertrude.)

Had a wonderful wine and cheese picnic in the park on Friday. The perfect combo of dining with Lindsey and playground fun with Audrey. Earlier in the week, shared dinner (on our wedding anniversary) with my friend Elizabeth, who was here from Philadelphia for work. I saw in my diary that last year on our anniversary, we had dinner wtih Lindsey's friend Boyce, who was visiting for work from North Carolina. Can't wait to see who wanderse into town next year when we celebrate our 5th anniversary!

I did manage to find some cuties to share...

Best of Chicago

Our trip to Chicago was marvelous. Here are my quick picks.

Of course we missed Audrey. My stomach actually hurt approaching the driveway, I was so excited to see her. She had a blast with grandma and grandpa (a wedding and a birthday party!) and really didn't show signs of missing us until Monday. She's had a few meltdowns in the last 48 hours. I'm hoping it is just residual anxiety from us being gone and not a true phase.

Wrapping The Week: Vacation Edition

{Source Unknown}

I'm wrapping the week early. Headed off for a short trip and leaving Audrey with my folks for four nights and freaking out about it. I'm very excited to go on a little vacation with my honey, but I know we are going to miss little miss terribly.

I have had this bedroom photo stashed on my computer forever. I love it so much. Along with that relaxing bit of sweetness, here is some more eye candy.

Got a million things done yesterday while mom watched Audrey. Birthday party venue is booked! This weekend, looking forward to Art Outside.

Hope your weekend is yummy too.

Yoga

Last night was the first night of an 8 week yoga class I signed up for at Yoga St. Louis. I tried yoga years ago at the YMCA and it was not a good experience--too crowded. This was fantastic and the studio is right in my neighborhood. I'm already looking forward to the next class. I think these yoga business cards are funny.

Pink Martini

I want to see Pink Martini in concert so badly. I love their 2004 release Hang On Little Tomato and just purchased 2009's Splendor In The Grass. So fun and romantic.

Wrapping The Week

How can one stumble across a movie still like this and not want to see the movie? Well, the trailer for Congo Bill looks truly awful. But Cleo Moore (the blonde above) was a bombshell who starred as a bad girl in a number of low budget 1950s films. Hold Back Tomorrow looks especially racy. Moore made headlines with several publicity stunts, including a five minute kiss on live Chicago television in 1954. She has me thoroughly intrigued and my Netflix queue is loaded up with some Cleo.  Speaking of racy blonde bombshells...Meryl Streep? Who knew?

Labor Day weekend marks the end of summer swimming season. How trippy fantastic does the Happy Magic Water Park in Beijing look? Love.

This Charlie Brown Christmas spoof isn't really timely, but had us rolling over here. Our beloved designer friend Katy, was just over this week sharing work stories.

Two more weeks until our Chicago trip. Woot! We'll spend most of this weekend in the country, visiting my parents and other family and swimming in the most awesome lake.

Enjoy it, kittens!

Beachy Goodness

Other than a few long weekends here and there, we've had no vacation time this year. We are spending ten days in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area of North Carolina to visit family later this fall. We are contemplating trying to squeeze in a couple of days at the beach. I didn't realize it was only a couple of hours away. I thought it was more like five. I seriously need to brush up on my geography. We are eager for Audrey to see the ocean. I haven't been to the ocean in at least ten years. I'm very exciting--hope it works out. {Note: I wrote this before I knew about hurricane Earl.}
