Each of these Etsy finds made me laugh. In a good way. Not in a regretsy way.

Wrapping The Week
Tuesday, after Audrey's spring flower parade at preschool, we played outside almost all day. At the park, Lindsey and I took turns power walking and watching Audrey. It was gorgeous. Today, I awoke to find snow on my daffodils. No comment. Really. No comment.
Drool-worthy this week:
- This bedroom.
- The work of Simon Evans, found via Design Crush this week.
- Dinner Party Idea: Make-Your-Own Grilled Cheese Bar.
- Jazz violin. Oh yeah!
- Not really drool-worthy, but interesting.

Wedding Paintings
Paintings from an old show. Digging out/through some things. The resulting equation is something like this (desperation + inspiration + deflation = paralyzation).

Spring Shoes
After all the gallery hopping on Friday night, I realized I am in dire need of some sassy summer walking shoes. I know...the Naturalizers and Privos are a little "old lady" but they look like good kickers for the grocery store and serious sight seeing jaunts. But sorry Donald J. Pliner...as sweet as you look, this gal refuses to pay $150 for flats. I'll probably end up with the Clarks. Such a sucker for red shoes.

Wrapping The Week
I love this picture! On Monday, it snowed almost all day. On Thursday it was 80 degrees. I took Audrey to the park in the afternoon and we all went for a walk after dinner. SPRING is HERE!
While I have a lot at work to be stressed about (including the probable loss of my rock star assistant), I find myself not even caring or worrying too much because hey, I could be in Japan or Libya. My cousin is stationed in Japan and we were hopeful she was going to be evacuated with military family and non-essential personnel. But we got word on Thursday that she has to stay. So many tragic world events right now--truly depressing. I feel like all I can do is hug my own a little harder and just try to find ways to make a positive impact wherever I can, however small.
All week I meant to blog about the incredible SGC International Conference going on in St. Louis this weekend. There are tons of activities associated with it. My friend Katy send me a list of 47 things (no lie!). I can't wait to see the traveling print truck with a portable tabletop letterpress from my friend Eric Woods, owner of Firecracker Press.
Just three tiny tidbits to share this week:

- There aren't words for how much I love this before and after project from frecklewonder.
- Someone will make you a custom Frida doll! We would have one of these, if Audrey wasn't so afraid of her uni-brow.
- And finally, I watched this Miranda July video at least five times this week. I. Love. It.

Vintage Aprons
One of my goals this year is to take a thorough inventory of all of my vintage aprons. This will be no small task, with somewhere between 500-800 in the collection. My acquisition pace has slowed to maybe a couple a year, only buying those that are really unique from anything I already have. My idea is to photograph them all and post them online, either on flickr or a blog of some sort. If I have them cataloged this way, I think I will finally be able to part with a large percentage of them. (Maybe?) I am breaking this project down into four parts, or I will never make progress.
- Purchase a new camera. Right now I have two that I am testing.
- Purchase a dress form of some kind for display. I'm researching this, but the supply available, sadly isn't meeting my aesthetic demand.
- Ironing. (Volunteers welcomed!)
- Taking photos, editing, posting.

Kids Art
I have had such a ball looking at all the kid's artwork hanging in the walls of Audrey's preschool. I have especially enjoyed looking at the self-portraits of the 4-5 year olds and some of drawings they did inspired by Paul Klee. To be honest, I'm not thrilled with the art curriculum of the younger kids, which seems to consist of a lot of gluing and assembling. But in all fairness, they have about 20 minutes with nine three-year-olds. Plus, I do my darnedest to give her plenty of artistic freedoms and stimulation at home. Here are some random "art for kids" observations:
- My friend Rebecca owns and runs a creativity camp for kids in Alameda, California. Her ArtYowza blog chronicles some of the fantastic activities they do and has links to a lot of other great art education resources. She's inspirational on about a dozen different levels.
- Some of the older kids at Audrey's preschool made snakes similar to these from men's ties. I hadn't seen them before and thought they were so great.
- I always love watching the retro and lovely, How Crayons Are Made, from Sesame Street.
- The kid's art on Weemade always makes me happy.

Pocketbooth & Photobooth
Reaching back into the photobooth archives. I think this is from 2003, which is about the time I met my friend Tim Garrett, who started the first photobooth rental business in St. Louis, PhotoboothSTL. Besides vintage booths (like the one we had at our wedding) Tim eventually retro-fitted vintage booths with digital equipment and added those to his rental business. He is the creator of Pocketbooth, an incredible iphone app, which I would certainly have, if I had an iphone. But I'm a Luddite, remember? So, instead I'll periodically be posting the real deal, vintage photobooth shots. I've been thinking about both of these friends lately, so Nina and Tracy, xo.

Lullabyes
The time change is causing some real problems in this household. Audrey was so reluctant to get up this morning, we had to send her to Kelly's in her pajama top. Poor thing. And tonight, it took over two hours to get her to bed. I was running out of songs that I know lyrics to and had to pull these out of my hat. Sad night, indeed. What are the funny songs you sometimes sing?
{Learned this in junior high choir class and can't believe I remember the words.}
{I like this song because 1.) I met my husband in Austin, Texas. 2.) My grandpa loved Ernest Tubb.}
{I remember this from my grandpa and great uncles singing it around the campfire when I was little bitty. It is hard to sing this without crying.}
{I know, I know. Why do I know the lyrics to so many cheesy country songs?}
{I didn't want to sing this, but it was on the request list.}

Wrapping The Week
Audrey is drawing lots of faces lately. This week she said, "it's you mommy," and proceeded to draw hair and eyebrows for the first time on one of her faces. When I asked what the extra marks were between the eyes, she reached over and touched my frown lines and said, "these mommy." While I admire her attention to detail, OUCH!
Tonight we are going to a trivia night and we hope to catch up with my brother over the weekend who was in Florida for a week (work) and then Jamaica for a week (trip won from his work). What a winner!
- Very lovely photo series at Teenangster.
- Wind powered knitting machine at Swiss Miss is brilliant!
- There is so much I love about this house.
- I have a real love/hate relationship with this idea.
- Sweet. I love Inara George.

Butter
Saw this Nora Ephron quote on Swiss Miss this week and I think I'm at "a certain point"...
“You do get to a certain point in life where you have to realistically, I think, understand that the days are getting shorter, and you can’t put things off thinking you’ll get to them someday. If you really want to do them, you better do them. There are simply too many people getting sick, and sooner or later you will. So I’m very much a believer in knowing what it is that you love doing so you can do a great deal of it.”
She has also said...
"You can never have too much butter — that is my belief. If I have a religion, that's it."
Amen, sister. Amen

Why I Love My Sony NEX-3
Today after dropping Audrey off at preschool, I had coffee at Foundation Grounds, then stopped by SKIF in hopes of catching Nina. She wasn't in, but I had my new camera with me so I took a ton of photos. The Sony NEX-3 is so fun to use. I'm not ruling out others quite yet because I made the mistake of a hasty camera purchase once before. Why do I love NEX-3?
- Extremely compact and easy to carry around.
- Takes fantastic photos without much work. Auto works great but I have manual options.
- Video is really sharp and has audio is crisp.
- Panorama is so fun. I am such a sucker for panorama.
- Reasonably priced. Although I suspect the price is going to drop soon.

Fleurish Wedding Flowers
Aren't these the lovliest centerpieces? They were made by Fleurish for my wedding in 2006. The tree stump bases were actually made by me, my dad, and my friend Ron. What a happy day.

Wrapping The Week
I don't want to imply that I've been crabby this week, but I have been deep into some camera research. I'm always slightly unsatisfied with the image quality of my point and shoot cameras. But the DSLRs are too bulky. I'm just not going to be happy carrying around something that big and I'm sort of rough on things. If I broke a $1,000 camera, I would be pretty pissed. And I'm intimidated by all the options on those DSLRs too. I don't have the patience or time to (re)learn all the technical aspects of photography that I've long forgotten since college. So...I purchased a 4/3 format camera on Thursday and am going to do some serious shooting and comparisons over the weekend. I'm excited because I think this camera will give me the image quality I desire. I'm apprehensive because I'm not sure it will perform quickly enough to capture my fast moving tot. Stay tuned.
Tidbits from this week include many photography related links--but not all.
We have a slow weekend planned. Hellooooo March!

Wonder Girl
{Wonder Woman/Girl, April, 2009}
Monday night, putting Audrey to bed, snuggled next to each other. She says, "Daddy a superman, you a butterfly, me a puppy dog." Squirms under the covers to make a tent for herself. "I'm happy mommy." Seriously? Not sure it gets better than this.
